The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring the implementation of procurement quality assurance requirements, including supplier assessments, source verifications, and non-destructive examinations (NDE).
This is accomplished through review of procurement documents for flow down and inclusion of quality requirements; performing quality related assessments, first article inspections, and in-process and final product inspection at suppliers; assisting in developing inspection and test acceptance criteria; assisting in the resolution of non-conformances; developing audit plans and/or checklists; leading supplier audits and surveillances; providing input for fabrication issues; and applying sound systematic problem-solving methodologies in identifying, prioritizing, communicating, and resolving supplier quality issues.
Responsibilities include working with line organizations to write, edit, route for review, and resolve comments on process documents/procedures, work instructions, and/or instructional guidance and manuals; identify quality problems; recommend/develop solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity, which requires ingenuity and innovation; evaluate processes and/or products to determine if requirements have been appropriately applied and takes corrective action if necessary; represent the organization on specific projects and activities; and/or interact with senior internal and external personnel on matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
