Quality Assurance Tester

Job Description

codevista is seeking an entry-level QA Tester to join our dynamic team in Austin, Texas. In this role, you'll contribute to ensuring the quality of our software products through manual testing, bug reporting, and basic test case development. Gain hands-on experience with industry-standard tools like JIRA and Selenium while working in a supportive environment that fosters learning and growth for beginners in quality assurance.

Full Description

As an entry-level QA Tester at codevista, you'll play a vital role in maintaining the high standards of our software applications. This position is perfect for recent graduates or individuals new to the field who are eager to build a career in quality assurance. You'll work closely with developers, product managers, and other team members to identify and resolve issues early in the development cycle, ensuring our products deliver exceptional user experiences.

Your primary responsibilities will include creating and executing test cases based on provided specifications. You'll perform manual testing on web and mobile applications, checking for functionality, usability, and performance across different browsers and devices. As you gain experience, you'll learn to document defects using tools like JIRA, collaborate on root cause analysis, and participate in daily stand-up meetings within an Agile environment.

At the entry level, we emphasize foundational skills and on-the-job training. You'll start by understanding software testing principles such as black-box and white-box testing, equivalence partitioning, and boundary value analysis. Our team will guide you in using testing frameworks like Selenium for basic automation scripts, though initial focus will be on manual processes to build your confidence.

You'll also assist in regression testing to verify that new updates don't break existing features. Expect to review user stories and acceptance criteria to ensure comprehensive coverage. We use methodologies like Scrum and Kanban to keep projects organized, and you'll learn how QA integrates into the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).

Technologies and tools you'll encounter include:

  • Testing tools: Selenium WebDriver, Postman for API testing, and Appium for mobile.
  • Bug tracking: JIRA or similar.
  • Version control: Basic exposure to Git.
  • Browsers and OS: Cross-platform testing on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

This role offers a hybrid work model, allowing flexibility while being based in Austin. We prioritize work-life balance and provide mentorship programs to help you progress quickly. By the end of your first year, you'll have a solid portfolio of testing experience and be ready for more advanced challenges.

codevista is committed to diversity and inclusion, offering opportunities for continuous learning through workshops, certifications (like ISTQB Foundation Level, covered by us), and team-building events. Join us to contribute to innovative projects in fintech and e-commerce, while developing skills that are in high demand across the tech industry.

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools for documentation
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
