QC Chemist Job Summary:

The QC Chemist is responsible for performing qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses of raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure compliance with internal specifications, regulatory standards, and customer requirements. The role ensures product quality, supports manufacturing processes, and maintains laboratory accuracy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

· Equipment - Set up, operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, and troubleshoot any malfunctions.

a. GC

i. Learning/creating methods

ii. Data Analysis

iii. Writing the methods

iv. Performing routine maintenance on the equipment

v. Monitoring and ordering required supplies

b. Rheometer

i. Researching valuable methods/calculations of transforming rheometric data to S&P useful information and results.

c. DSC

i. Running tests and analyzing the data.

ii. Maintenance

d. General equipment maintenance – contacting suppliers to resolve equipment issues.

· Support Production

a. Quality testing (including but not limited to) Titrations, melting points, penetrations, etc.

b. Strahl Building In-Process tests

i. Checking pails

ii. Candelilla peroxide check, etc.

c. Setting up Strahl Building production testing (when necessary)

d. Fill in for Lab Tech (when necessary) including morning production checks and testing, filtering, bleaching.

e. Tanker sampling/testing

· Environmental Monitoring swabbing (Monthly + Food Production)

· Blending and testing of samples in assistance of investigation, non-conforming product disposition.

· General lab procedure updates.

· Performing the quality updates for change controls (ie. Formula update)

· Assisting Research Manager with projects, evaluation documents.

  • Assist with product research and testing to support investigations and management requests to make commercial decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Investigate out-of-specification (OOS) and out-of-trend (OOT) results and assist in root cause analysis.
  • Maintain laboratory safety, cleanliness, and proper disposal of chemical waste.
  • Support internal and external audits (e.g., FDA, ISO, cGMP inspections).
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, attention to detail, and communication skills are vital.
  • Ability to summarize data and present it to Senior and Executive Management
  • Comply with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Other duties as considered necessary to support Quality, Lab and R&D

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $29.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
