Quality Control-Food Safety Compliance Inspector

Gavina Coffee Company is looking for an experienced Quality Control/Food Safety Compliance Inspector to join the coffee roasting/packaging team at our Miami plant. The ideal candidate will have experience with quality control and regulatory practices related to the production of consumables goods to help us ensure that we provide a high-quality product free of all production defects or contamination. Duties will include using a variety of inspection processes and lab equipment to monitor and analyze finished product and packaging against defined specifications, following all Quality Control Inspection SOPs and documentation requirements, coordinating with Production to implement preventative and corrective controls to minimize contamination risks or defects before the coffee is packed and finished goods are distributed to the warehouse, maintaining records in accordance to our GMP and Food Safety Plans, basic upkeep of the lab, and other duties as required. Hours will be Monday through Friday from 7am to 3:45pm with some overtime occasionally required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Proven experience in quality control or quality inspection within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the food or medical device sectors.
• Experience in working with ISO 13485, ISO 9001, HACCP, FDA regulations, and CGMP standards.
• Proficiency with calibration tools such as calipers, micrometers, and vision inspection systems and other equipment common to laboratories; experience with coordinate measuring machines (CMM) is a plus.
• Familiarity with quality management software and data collection methods for analysis purposes.
• Excellent analysis skills with a keen eye for detail to identify discrepancies or non-conformances swiftly.
• Strong communication skills for documenting findings clearly and collaborating effectively with team members.
• MUST wear required personal protective or safety gear and equipment.
• Reading comprehension: must be able to understand written sentences and information provided in work orders, specifications, and other work-related and safety communications.
• Must be reliable with an outstanding and dedicated work ethic.
• Exceptional communication skills and that ability to collaborate with other departments to inform them of production issues in a tactful and respectful manner.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to work with computers and accurately enter data as needed.
• Availability to work some overtime as needed.

EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Three to five (3-5) years of experience in food inspection and/or the manufacturing of consumable products, or equivalent education in food science.
• Degree or HS Diploma with relevant experience preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires standing for extended periods of time; between 8 to 12 hours or more
• Able to safely lift and carry packaged products and raw materials
• Hands and fingers with dexterity to document data and work with product, equipment parts and controls
• Must be able to work with varying degrees of noise and environmental temperatures as well as exposure to particulates in the air with or without PPE.
• Ability to stand, bend, twist and climb ladders as needed
• Vision: ability to monitor gauges, dials or other indicators as well as read specifications
• Hearing: must be able to hear potential packaging or equipment malfunctions and/or alarms.
