Quality Control Inspector (Fabrication Shop)Summary
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring all fabricated components meet internal quality standards, customer specifications, and applicable industry codes. This role is shop? loor based and requires strong technical knowledge of gas compression equipment, hydrotesting procedures, and weld mapping/documentation. The ideal candidate brings at least three years of fabrication shop QA/QC experience and is comfortable working in a fast paced, production driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform in process and final inspections on fabricated components, piping, and assemblies.
- Verify welds, materials, and dimensions against drawings, WPS/PQR requirements, and customer specifications.
- Create, maintain, and review weld maps, heat number traceability, and material documentation packages.
- Oversee and document hydrotests, including test setup, pressure hold, safety compliance, and results reporting.
- Inspect and verify components related to gas compression systems, including skids, piping, vessels, and structural elements.
- Identify nonconformances, document NCRs, and work with production to ensure proper corrective actions.
- Maintain calibration records for gauges, measuring tools, and testing equipment.
- Support customer and third party inspections as needed.
- Ensure compliance with ASME, API, and company quality standards.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of shop quality processes.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of QA/QC experience in a fabrication or manufacturing shop environment.
- Working knowledge of gas compression equipment and related fabrication practices.
- Hands on experience with hydrotesting procedures and documentation.
- Strong understanding of weld mapping, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and isometrics.
- Familiarity with ASME Section VIII, B31.3, and related industry codes (preferred).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with welders, fitters, and shop leadership.
- High attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS CWI or equivalent certification (not required but highly valued).
- Experience with quality documentation packages (ITPs, MDRs, turnover packages).
- Prior experience in gas compression skid fabrication or oil & gas equipment manufacturing

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
