Quality Control Inspector

Summary of Job responsibilities:

The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing incoming product inspection, manufacturing and sub assembly inspections, product label inspection, in process and final kit inspection of medical devices to ensure compliance with product specifications, drawings, and regulatory requirements. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to accurately interpret technical documentation, and proficiency with inspection and measurement tools. The inspector plays a critical role in identifying nonconforming materials and supporting overall product quality and patient safety.

Additional responsibilities may include assisting research & development in product testing and inspection for verification and validation activities when needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Incoming Inspection o Perform incoming inspection of raw materials/components and finished goods against approved specifications, drawings, and inspection criteria.

o Verify supplier documentation (e.g., certificates of conformance, inspection reports) as required

o Accurately record inspection results in quality systems or inspection records

o Identify, document, and segregate nonconforming materials

  • Manufacturing and sub assembly inspections o Verify that parts meet dimensional tolerances, material specifications, workmanship standards, and assembly requirements as defined in engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), work instructions, and quality control procedures.

o The inspector ensures that assemblies are built correctly, components are properly aligned and secured, and no physical defects.

  • In Process and Final Kit Inspection o Conducts in-process inspections at defined checkpoints to verify that manufacturing activities remain in control and conform to documented procedures.

o May perform sampling per established inspection plans and record results in quality systems or inspection logs.

  • Final Kit Inspection o Conduct comprehensive final inspections of completed medical device kits prior to release.

o Verify correct components, labeling, packaging, and configuration per approved work instructions and specifications

  • Nonconformance & Quality Documentation o Initiate and document Non-Conformance Records (NCRs) for materials or products that do not meet requirements

o Clearly communicate inspection findings to Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams

o Support investigations and corrective actions as needed

  • Measurement & Inspection Tools o Use precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, impedance meters, and other electrical or mechanical measuring devices

o Ensure tools are handled properly and used in accordance with calibration requirements

o Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections as required

Qualifications & Skills

  • Required o High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree or technical training preferred)

o Experience in quality inspection and/or manufacturing.

o Ability to read and interpret product specifications, engineering drawings, and work instructions

o Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

o Proficiency using measurement and inspection tools (e.g., calipers, impedance meters, multimeters, gauges)

o Ability to document results clearly and accurately

o Basic computer skills and experience with quality or inventory systems

  • Preferred o Experience working in a medical device environment.

o Understanding of FDA and ISO 13485.

o Familiarity with quality and inventory systems (ERP)

o Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

  • Physical & Work Requirements

o Ability to perform repetitive inspection tasks with sustained focus

o Ability to handle small components and devices requiring fine motor skills

o Ability to sit or stand for extended periods as required by inspection activities

o Able to lift up to 50lbs. from floor to table.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
