JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
The PPE Test Lab Technician is responsible for performing testing, inspection, and processing of personal protective equipment (PPE), including rubber goods such as gloves, blankets, and related safety equipment. This role ensures all items are tested, inspected, and documented in compliance with applicable safety standards and company procedures.
The position is structured across three levels (Technician I, II, III), reflecting increasing levels of skill, independence, responsibility, and technical expertise. All technicians support daily lab operations while contributing to safety, compliance, and efficiency.

3. JOB REQUIREMENTS
3.1. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
3.2. Ability to follow structured procedures and protocols.
3.3. Ability to perform repetitive tasks with consistency.
3.4. Basic computer skills for data entry and tracking.
3.5. Strong work ethic and reliability.
3.6. Ability to work in a team environment.
3.7. Ability to lift and handle materials (up to ~60 lbs).
3.8. Preferred:
3.9.1 Experience in PPE testing, lab work, or quality inspection.
3.9.2 Familiarity with dielectric testing processes.
3.9.3 Experience in industrial, safety, or utility environments.
3.9.4 Experience working in compliance-driven or regulated industries.
4. WORKING CONDITIONS
4.1. Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
4.2. Work performed in lab and warehouse environments.
4.3. Requires standing, lifting, and handling PPE items.
4.4. Must follow all safety protocols and use required PPE.
4.5. Extended hours may be required to meet testing deadlines.
5. PRINCIPAL DUTIES
5.1. PPE Testing & Inspection
5.1.1 Perform dielectric testing on rubber gloves, blankets, and other protective rubber goods.
5.1.2 Perform visual inspections of PPE items to identify defects, wear, or non-compliance.
5.1.3 Verify that all items meet required safety and certification standards.
5.1.4 Follow established testing procedures and protocols.
5.1.5 Identify and document failed or non-conforming items.
5.2. PPE Preparation & Processing
5.2.1 Perform washing and drying of rubber goods prior to testing.
5.2.2 Prepare PPE items for testing to ensure proper condition and readiness.
5.2.3 Handle PPE items carefully throughout all stages of processing.
5.2.4 Maintain consistency in preparation and processing methods.
5.3. Work Order Execution
5.3.1 Retrieve and review assigned work orders prior to processing.
5.3.2 Verify work order details for accuracy and completeness.
5.3.3 Execute testing and inspection activities in accordance with work order requirements.
5.3.4 Update work order status upon completion.
5.3.5 Ensure completed work orders are accurate and properly closed.
5.4. Documentation & Compliance
5.4.1 Record all test results accurately and completely.
5.4.2 Maintain compliance with NAIL, PET, and ASTM standards.
5.4.3 Ensure proper labeling and traceability of all tested items.
5.4.4 Maintain accurate documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
5.5. Failed Item Handling
5.5.1 Identify failed PPE items during inspection and testing.
5.5.2 Document failure details accurately.
5.5.3 Separate and route failed items according to procedures.
5.5.4 Communicate failures to the Lab Manager or Customer Service as required.
5.6 Lab Operations & Organization
5.6.1 Maintain a clean and organized lab environment.
5.6.2 Ensure testing equipment is used properly and maintained.
5.6.3 Support organization of intake, in-process, and completed PPE items.
5.6.4 Assist in maintaining efficient workflow within the lab.
5.7 Inventory & Material Handling
5.7.1 Handle PPE items safely and accurately.
5.7.2 Ensure proper labeling and tracking of all items.
5.7.3 Maintain organization of staging areas.
5.7.4 Support inventory tracking within the lab.
5.8 Safety & Compliance
5.8.1 Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
5.8.2 Use appropriate PPE during testing and handling.
5.8.3 Operate equipment safely and responsibly.
5.8.4 Maintain a safe working environment.
5.9 Workflow Support
5.9.1 Execute daily workload assignments to meet turnaround expectations.
5.9.2 Support prioritization of work based on lab needs.
5.9.3 Assist in maintaining throughput and workflow efficiency.
5.9.4 Identify and communicate workflow issues or bottlenecks.
6. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
6.1. Performance will be evaluated based on:
a. Accuracy and reliability of test results.
b. Timeliness of test completion and reporting.
c. Compliance with NAIL, PET, ASTM, and applicable regulatory standards.
d. Successful support of customer certification requirements.
e. Laboratory efficiency and workflow management.
f. Contribution to development of testing as a revenue-generating function.
g. Team performance and adherence to procedures.
h. Implementation of process and quality improvements.
6.2.I Technician I (Entry Level)
* Works under direct supervision.
* Perform washing and drying of PPE items.
* Assist with visual inspection processes.
* Assist with preparation of items for testing.
* Follow detailed instructions and procedures.
* Focus on learning processes, accuracy, and consistency.
6.2.II Technician II (Intermediate)
* Works independently on assigned tasks.
* Perform full visual inspections of PPE items.
* Perform dielectric testing in accordance with standards.
* Execute work orders independently.
* Identify and document failed items.
* Maintain accuracy and efficiency in daily workload.
6.2.III Technician III (Advanced / Lead Technician)
* Operate as subject matter expert within the lab.
* Perform complex testing and troubleshooting.
* Validate test results and ensure compliance accuracy.
* Assist in training and mentoring Technician I and II staff.
* Support Lab Manager in workflow coordination and prioritization.
* Identify process improvement opportunities.
* Assist in maintaining quality control standards across the lab.
Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
