We are seeking a hands-on Quality Leader to drive quality systems, continuous improvement, and team performance within a heavy steel fabrication environment. This role blends technical quality expertise with strong people leadership, requiring someone who leads from the front, sets clear expectations, and builds a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
The Quality Control Manager candidate will have the following Responsibilities:

Lead and develop quality team members across shifts; drive accountability and performance

Oversee quality control processes across fabrication, welding, coating, and galvanizing operations
-
Implement and improve quality systems, procedures, and inspection standards
-
Drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA)
-
Utilize SPC, process capability, and data analysis to improve manufacturing performance
-
Interpret and enforce codes, standards, shop drawings, and specifications
-
Partner with operations to support Lean / continuous improvement initiatives
-
Foster a culture of safety, quality, and proactive problem-solving
The ideal Quality Control Manager candidate will have the following Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
-
Bachelor's degree + 3+ years of quality experience
-
OR Associate's degree + 6+ years
-
OR 9+ years of progressive quality experience
-
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
-
Experience with:
-
Welding inspection, coating inspection, and NDT (non-destructive testing)
-
Root cause analysis tools (fishbone, Pareto, etc.)
-
Statistical Process Control (SPC) and process capability
-
Knowledge of steel fabrication processes (cutting, forming, welding, painting, galvanizing)
-
Ability to make data-driven decisions and influence cross-functional teams
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Quality leadership experience in an AISC-certified heavy fabrication environment

Certifications:
-
AWS CWI (Certified Welding Inspector)
-
SNT-TC-1A (VT, MT, UT Level II)
-
NACE CIP Level I
-
ASQ CQE or CMQ/OE
-
Experience leading Lean Six Sigma / CI projects
-
Strong people leader who leads by example and builds team culture
-
Self-starter who takes initiative without needing direction
-
Comfortable balancing shop-floor presence with strategic quality improvements
-
Technically sound, but equally focused on developing teams and driving change
