The Quality Control Officer - Automotive is responsible for ensuring that all automotive repair, maintenance, and production processes adhere to quality standards. This role involves inspecting vehicles, monitoring processes, and working with the workshop team to identify and resolve quality issues. The Quality Control Officer plays a critical role in maintaining high standards of workmanship, ensuring customer satisfaction, and complying with industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:Quality Assurance:
- Inspection of Work:
- Perform thorough inspections of vehicles before and after repairs, maintenance, or production to ensure that all work meets company and industry standards.
- Verify that all repairs, installations, and services are performed correctly and in compliance with technical specifications.
- Process Monitoring:
- Monitor the workflow within the workshop to ensure that quality control procedures are being followed.
- Identify and address any deviations from standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and any corrective actions taken.
- Prepare quality control reports and provide feedback to management on quality issues and trends.
Problem Solving & Corrective Actions:
- Issue Identification:
- Detect and document any defects, errors, or areas of concern in the work performed by technicians and mechanics.
- Investigate the root cause of quality issues and work with the team to implement corrective actions.
- Training & Support:
- Provide guidance and training to technicians and mechanics on quality control processes and standards.
- Assist in developing and updating training materials related to quality assurance.
Standards Compliance:
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure that all work performed in the garage complies with local, national, and industry-specific regulations and standards.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices to ensure the garage operates in compliance with the latest standards.
- Health & Safety:
- Ensure that health and safety standards are maintained throughout the workshop.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and collaborate with the safety officer to address any hazards.
Continuous Improvement:
- Process Improvement:
- Work with management to identify opportunities for improving processes, reducing waste, and increasing efficiency while maintaining or enhancing quality.
- Participate in quality control audits and contribute to the development of new SOPs to enhance quality.
- Customer Feedback:
- Gather and analyze customer feedback related to quality and service, and use this information to drive improvements.
- Address and resolve any quality-related customer complaints in a timely and professional manner.
Qualifications:
- Education: Diploma or degree in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Certification in Quality Control or Quality Assurance is an advantage.
- Experience:
- Minimum of [3-5+] years of experience in the automotive industry, particularly in quality control, inspection, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of automotive repair, maintenance procedures, and quality standards.
- Skills:
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with technicians, mechanics, and management.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, measuring instruments, and quality control software.
- Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
