Quality Controller

Job Title: Quality Controller – Diet Food Catering

Department: Quality Assurance / Operations
Reports To: Operations Manager / QA Manager

Job Summary:

The Quality Controller is responsible for ensuring that all diet meals are prepared, handled, and delivered according to company standards, client dietary requirements, and food safety regulations. This role focuses on maintaining high quality, hygiene, and consistency in all catering operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor daily food preparation to ensure compliance with diet plans, portion control, and nutritional standards
  • Conduct quality checks on raw materials, ingredients, and finished meals
  • Ensure all meals meet hygiene and food safety standards (HACCP guidelines)
  • Verify correct labeling of meals (calories, macros, allergens, diet type)
  • Inspect kitchen cleanliness, staff hygiene, and food handling practices
  • Coordinate with chefs, dietitians, and kitchen staff to maintain consistency in meal quality
  • Check packaging, sealing, and delivery conditions to maintain freshness and quality
  • Record quality control reports and maintain documentation
  • Identify and report any quality issues or deviations and take corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with local food safety regulations and company policies
  • Conduct regular audits and assist in staff training related to quality and hygiene

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Food Science, Nutrition, Hospitality, or related field
  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in food quality control, preferably in catering or diet meal services
  • Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards
  • Understanding of diet plans, calorie control, and nutritional requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in diet catering, meal prep services, or hospital food services
  • Familiarity with calorie-counting software or nutrition systems
  • Basic computer skills for reporting and documentation

Working Conditions:

  • Work in kitchen and food production areas
  • May require standing for long hours
  • Flexible working hours, including weekends if required

Pay: Up to KD350.000 per month
