Position Summary
We are looking for a dedicated Quality Engineer to become the guardian of our quality standards. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust quality control systems throughout our manufacturing process. You will work closely with our master craftsmen, production teams, and suppliers to ensure that every piece of furniture leaving our workshop meets our exacting standards for aesthetics, structural integrity, and finish. Your analytical mind and keen eye for detail will be essential in driving continuous improvement and preserving our reputation for superior quality.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Systems & Process Management:
- Develop, document, and implement comprehensive Quality Control (QC) procedures and checklists for raw materials, in-process production, and finished goods.
- Conduct regular process audits to ensure adherence to established quality standards and manufacturing specifications.
- Manage the Non-Conforming Product system, including identification, segregation, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintain and calibrate precision measuring instruments and equipment.
Inspection & Testing:
- Perform rigorous inspections of incoming materials, including solid wood, veneers, fabrics, leathers, and hardware, against defined quality standards.
- Conduct in-process inspections at critical stages of production (e.g., joinery, sanding, assembly, finishing).
- Lead the final inspection of finished furniture, evaluating for defects in construction, finish quality, color consistency, and overall workmanship.
- Develop and perform tests for durability, stability, and finish integrity (e.g., scratch resistance, finish adhesion).
Supplier Quality & Collaboration:
- Work closely with the procurement team to evaluate and monitor the quality performance of material suppliers.
- Conduct supplier audits and provide feedback to ensure incoming materials meet our specifications.
Continuous Improvement:
- Analyze quality data (defect rates, return rates) to identify trends and opportunities for improvement in materials, methods, and processes.
- Lead or participate in cross-functional teams to solve complex quality issues and implement effective solutions.
- Foster a culture of quality and craftsmanship on the shop floor by training and coaching production staff on quality standards and techniques.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Wood Science/Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience (3+ years) as a Quality Engineer, Quality Technician, or in a similar QC role, preferably within the furniture, woodworking, cabinetry, or luxury goods manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of quality management principles (e.g., ISO 9001) and quality control techniques.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with experience in root cause analysis methods (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram).
- High level of attention to detail and a passion for quality and craftsmanship.
Highly Desirable:
- Experience in a fine furniture or high-end joinery environment.
- Knowledge of wood properties, manufacturing processes, and finishing techniques.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis software or advanced Excel skills for data reporting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with artisans and management.
- Fluent in Arabic and professional proficiency in English.
