Job Summary:
The Quality Technician ensures that all switchgear and switchboard products meet internal standards and customer specifications. This role involves hands-on inspection, testing, and documentation to support compliance with industry regulations and continuous improvement initiatives.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct in-process, final, and incoming inspections of electrical and mechanical components.

Perform functional and continuity testing on switchgear and switchboard assemblies.

Maintain calibration records and ensure proper use of inspection tools.

Identify and document non-conformances; support root cause analysis and corrective actions.

Assist in internal and external audits (e.g., ISO 9001, UL, CSA).

Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues.

Maintain quality records, inspection logs, and test data.
-
Support continuous improvement projects and lean manufacturing initiatives.

Inspect wiring, bus bars, enclosures, and mechanical assemblies for conformance to drawings/specs.
-
Use tools such as calipers, micrometers, multimeters, hi-pot testers, and torque wrenches.

Review and verify supplier certifications and test reports.
-
Record inspection results in ERP or quality management systems.

Tag and quarantine non-conforming materials.
-
Participate in daily quality and production meetings.

Update inspection checklists and work instructions as needed.
Required Skills and Experience:

High school diploma or GED required.
-
Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or Quality Assurance preferred.

Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in electrical equipment or switchgear/switchboard production.

Experience with UL 891, UL 1558, or similar standards is highly desirable.

Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and wiring diagrams.

Familiarity with quality tools and methodologies (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, 8D, FMEA).

Experience using inspection and test equipment (e.g., hi-pot testers, multimeters, calipers).

Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and documentation practices.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
-
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Additional Skills and Experience:

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Epicor) and quality management software is a plus.

IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certification (for wire harness inspection)

OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification
