Tesla Gigafactory Texas is seeking an Associate Quality Lab Manager to lead and coordinate Quality Engineering Supervisors and Technicians within the Fault Analysis Team. This role focuses on overseeing routine computed tomography (CT) scanning, image evaluation, cell dissection, and inspection for Tesla's innovative battery cell manufacturing program. The ideal candidate excels in a fast-paced environment, collaborates effectively within a dynamic team, and demonstrates the leadership and expertise required to drive ambitious projects while meeting aggressive targets. This position is pivotal in challenging the status quo and defining optimal strategies for quality and efficiency.
What You'll Do-
Lead and manage engineering supervisors and technicians to ensure effective team performance

Provide support and guidance for comprehensive quality testing, including CT scanning, radiographic image analysis, defect detection, waste stream management, cell dissection, SEM elemental analysis, and use of Keyence and optical microscopes

Collaborate with production and manufacturing teams to integrate emerging imaging technologies and provide expertise on novel radiographic DICOM systems and multi-planar imaging features

Develop a robust 4680 cell CT imaging and dissection data auditing program to maintain quality standards

Ensure adequate coverage of trained staff to meet fault analysis targets while fostering a culture of safety and quality through communication and accountability

Guide shift supervisors and support fault analysis engineers to standardize lab test execution, data management, and drive continuous improvement in lab workflow efficiency

Communicate challenges and successes effectively to the Lab Manager
What You'll Bring-
3+ years of experience managing teams in a high-volume manufacturing setting, with preference for experience leading both individual contributors and people leaders

Advanced proficiency in operating industrial radiographic equipment and interpreting multi-planar imaging

Ability to utilize technological tools and business system applications for data management and interpretation

Familiarity with quality systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

Willingness to work long hours and weekends on short notice

Must have command of the English language, both written and Verbal
Essential Physical Demands:

Be both capable and willing to perform all the various manual tasks involved with lab work, such as safely moving heavy objects, moving large pallets with a pallet jack, handling incoming materials, etc.

Must be able to walk multiple flights of stairs and will need to lift up to 30 lbs.

Must be able to stand for long periods of time
