PRIMARY SUMMARY:
Performs testing on in-process and final parts from various manufacturing operations. Reads and understands drawings and specifications for correct test requirements, procedures and sampling plans.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Performs testing in; tensile, torque, Rockwell Hardness, and micro hardness to ensure conformance to quality requirements and/or specifications.
- Assist in the preparation of Metallurgical mounts by; cutting, grinding, polishing and etching for testing.
- Reviews blueprint and specifications for correct test requirements, procedures, and sampling plans.
- Verify calibration on all test equipment is current prior to use.
- Completes conformance test reports as required.
- May assists supervisor in monitoring job status and quality.
- Able to recognize cosmetic non-conformances based on Company specifications such as; burrs, galling, cracked edges, slug marks, dimensional changes in production parts and initiate action to prevent non-conformance such as stopping the machine and notifying Supervisor.
- Follow all 5S department procedures which include but are not limited to; keeping floors clean of oil and debris, returning tools to proper locations, organize part pans, and performs other housekeeping duties.
- Attends all required job related training (internal and external).

Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent education and/or experience.
- Preferably with 1-2 years of metallurgical or physical laboratory experience.
- General understanding of test equipment and lab procedures.
- Ability to make all inspections on machined parts using precision measuring equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints or other job specifications.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic mainframe computer systems and familiarity with Spreadsheet and Word Processing software.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Strong analytical skills that will allow for the assessment of and resolution to issues. The responsibilities of the position include compliance with company and governmental safety, environmental and hazardous materials regulations and procedures. The employee will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment in specified areas.
Pay Range: $20-24/Hr.
