Desired Candidate Profile:
- Editorial Quality Oversight: Ensures the publication of high-quality, well-reviewed, and reliable scholarly content across all journal issues.
- Quality Control & Compliance: Establishes and enforces rigorous quality control procedures to ensure accuracy, reliability, and consistency of published materials.
- Editorial Standards Development: Creates and maintains editorial guidelines, style manuals, and best practices for consistent publishing excellence.
- End-to-End Workflow Management: Oversees the editorial process from manuscript submission to final publication, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
- Ethical Publishing Practices: Upholds publishing ethics by conducting plagiarism checks, managing conflicts of interest, and ensuring transparency in the editorial process.
- Manuscript Evaluation: Assesses manuscripts for originality, scientific soundness, relevance, and adherence to the journal’s scope and quality standards.
- Editorial Decision-Making: Analyzes reviewer feedback and makes informed recommendations on manuscript acceptance, revision, or rejection.
- Content Accuracy & Formatting: Ensures all manuscripts meet the journal’s formatting, referencing, and style requirements prior to publication.
- Copyediting and Proof Review: Collaborates with authors and editors to refine language, improve readability, and ensure error-free final proofs.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Works closely with production, design, and marketing teams to ensure timely and seamless publication.
- Performance Monitoring: Tracks editorial metrics such as review turnaround time, publication timelines, and rejection rates to identify areas for improvement.
- Process Optimization: Continuously reviews and enhances editorial workflows using technology tools and best practices to improve efficiency.
- Strategic Planning: Contributes to journal growth strategies, impact factor improvement, and international visibility.
- Author and Reviewer Engagement: Builds positive relationships with authors and reviewers, fostering long-term collaboration and trust.
- Continuous Improvement: Engages in ongoing learning, professional development, and quality enhancement initiatives.
Key Skills and Competencies:
- Good understanding of academic publishing standards and ethical guidelines (COPE, ICMJE, etc.)
- Excellent command of written English and editorial style conventions (APA, NLM, Vancouver, etc.)
- Proven ability to manage multiple manuscripts and deadlines simultaneously
- Exceptional attention to detail and analytical judgment
- Proficiency in editorial management systems (e.g., ScholarOne, Editorial Manager, OJS)
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to adapt to fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
