Quality Technician

Job Summary
Support the Quality Assurance Department, under the direction of QA Management and QA Engineers in analyzing and solving quality related issues throughout the organization. Prepare instruction plans and instructions, monitor sampling plan applications, assist in the creation and maintenance of procedures, assist in training quality inspectors, perform audits, and assist in process controls.

Duties

  • Assist in solving quality and reliability problems with electronic, electro-mechanical, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Monitor testing and work with the Quality Engineer(s), and manufacturing management, to implement more efficient methods.
  • Verify corrective actions related to product quality and reliability issues.
  • Provide technical guidance to suppliers assuring product and process compliance.
  • Monitor supplier performance and assist in identifying process improvements, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation.
  • Gather internal and external failure data.
  • Maintain oversight of all in-process floor rejections and nonconformances.
  • Assist Quality Management in training and educating both QA employees and employees throughout the facility.
  • Assist manufacturing by performing final inspections on items in production.
  • Assist Quality Management in performing critical inspections of complex products and finished units (i.e. Hydrotesting, Vibe Test, etc).
  • Monitor and control the items moving into Vendor Hold, and assist with the inventory of said items.
  • Assist the QA department in incoming inspection, sorts, filing, and other tasks as needed.
  • Oversee the incoming inspection of chemicals within the facility and that they are approved and appropriately labeled.
  • Assist the QA Manager in the maintenance of the organization’s Quality Management System.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
  • Follow all company safety and health procedures for protection of self and other plant personnel.
  • Complete all ISO 9001:2015 AS9100D quality training and follow related procedures.
  • Assist supervisor or other Quality Assurance personnel, as deemed necessary, by the supervisor or Quality Assurance Manager.

Qualifications

  • 2-year degree in applicable field or equivalent experience
  • Has an in-depth knowledge of electronic and mechanical assemblies
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, electronic schematics, work instructions, process sheets, and bills of material.
  • Ability to self-inspect as well as the inspection of the work of others.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing methods and practices
  • Ability to effectively communication within the organization and with customers and suppliers.
  • Experience with statistical process controls
  • Familiarity with Quality Assurance and/or Quality Control
  • Knowledge of company quality specifications and manuals, process sheets and Engineering Instructions, pertaining to testing.
  • Familiarity with the use of precision measuring instruments and laboratory equipment, i.e. micrometers, calipers, and optical comparator.
  • Reviews reports and data, and confers with QA, Engineering, Operations, and Management personnel to solve work-related problems.
  • Must have high initiative, sharp investigative ability, and a high desire for learning.
  • Strong analytical and root-cause analysis capabilities, and drive to appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ability to input data accurately.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail skillset
  • Ability to lift, push or pull up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, when required.
