1.0 PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Inspect first piece, in-process, and finished parts in both a Quality Lab and Production Floor setting. Perform pressure testing of hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders. Evaluate and repair Customer returned cylinders.
2.0 QUALIFICATIONS:
2.0.1 High School or Vocational School diploma.
2.0.2 Prefer 2 to 5 years of quality experience.
2.0.3 Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and GD&T.
2.0.4 Work independently and with cross-functional teams.
2.0.5 Use quality principles, tools, and practices to develop and optimize systems and processes that are aligned with the overall business and quality vision.
2.0.6 Proficiency with inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, ring/plug gages, and height gage.
2.0.7 Ability to travel off-site on short notice.
3.0 TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
On the job training and/or educational courses associated with mechanical inspection, ISO, 5S, and Lean manufacturing principles.
4.0 PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
May require some heavy lifting and moving of parts. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time or walk throughout the workday.
5.0 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

5.0.1 GENERAL
5.0.1.1 Promote Sheffer’s Vision and Quality Policy.
5.0.1.2 Promote and maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
5.0.1.3 Work with all departments to ensure that customer requirements are met.
5.0.1.4 All other duties as assigned by Quality Manager.
5.0.2 QUALITY SYSTEMS
5.0.2.1 Assist with the development of quality systems, procedures, and controls to ensure that products consistently meet performance and quality specifications.
5.0.2.2 Review and recommend revisions to the Quality manual and all procedures on a regular basis and monitor the adherence of these procedures by all Sheffer personnel.
5.0.2.3 Train others in support of Sheffer’s quality culture.
5.0.3 TECHNICAL / PROBLEM SOLVING
5.0.3.1 Strong technical resource who quickly, effectively and permanently resolves quality problems with internal and external customers and suppliers.
5.0.3.2 Assist with customer complaints to identify, coordinate, and effectively resolve problems in a timely manner within the plant.
5.0.3.3 Interface with customers, in absence of Quality Manager, regarding quality concerns. (corrective actions, critical dimensions, deviation requests, travel to customers as needed).
5.0.3.4 Responsible for issuing, updating, responding to and follow up on all internal corrective action requests. Assist with external corrective actions in absence of the Quality Manager.
5.0.4 INSPECTION
5.0.4.1 Dimensional inspection of raw materials, 1st Articles, in-process, and final product.
5.0.4.2 Pressure test hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders per established procedures.
5.0.4.3 Complete Nonconformance Reports (NCR’s) as needed for non-conforming product.
5.0.4.4 Perform gauge calibrations and maintain calibration system.
5.0.4.5 Other inspection or testing as required.
5.0.5 WARRANTY/REPAIR
5.0.5.1 Test, evaluate, and repair all cylinder returns.
5.0.5.2 Coordinate warranty/repair activities with Engineering, Production, and Customer Solutions Representatives.
5.0.5.3 Track all warranty/repair orders to ensure timely completion.
