We are looking for an experienced and motivated Quality/Compliance RN to join our growing team in East Haven, CT!

About Us: Utopia Home Care is a Medicare certified, state licensed, medical home care agency that provides in-home nursing, therapy, and home health aide services throughout Connecticut. We have been family owned and operated since 1983 and currently serve over 1400 clients throughout the state!

Overview: The Quality Nurse in Home Care is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient centered care by monitoring clinical performance, evaluating compliance with regulations and standards and supporting continuous quality improvement initiatives. This role involves collaboration with clinical staff, administration and regulatory bodies to ensure that home care services meet or exceed internal and external benchmarks.

Quality/Compliance Registered Nurse Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Must be a registered nurse licensed to practice in the State of Connecticut and have one of the following:
  • A master’s degree from a program approved by the National League for Nursing or the American Public Health Association with a minimum of one (1) year full-time clinical experience in a home health agency or related community health program which included care of the sick at home; or
  • A baccalaureate degree in nursing and minimum of three (3) years of full time clinical experience in nursing, at least one (1) of which included care of the sick at home;
  • A diploma in nursing and a minimum of six (6) years of full-time equivalent clinical experience in nursing within the past ten (10) years, at least three (3) years of which were in a home health care agency or community health program which included care of the sick at home;

Evidence of certification by the American Nurses Association Health Nurse or completion of at least six (6) credits received within two (2) years in community health nursing theory or six (6) credits in health care management from an accredited college or university program or school of nursing.

Quality/Compliance RN Education and Experience

  • Registered Nurse (RN) License required, BSN preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in home health of community nursing
  • At least 1 year in quality assurance, performance improvement or a related role preferred
  • Active RN license in CT

Quality/Compliance RN Job Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for program and policy development
  • Performs all ADR and TPL requests, monitoring appeals concurrently and retrospectively to determine trends and associated follow up education related to the findings noted throughout the appeal process.
  • Performs a review and follow up of education related to the Adverse Events quarterly update.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of patient care services delivered in the home setting.
  • Conduct audits of clinical documentation and patient records to ensure compliance with federal, state and accreditation standards.
  • Analyze performance data, track quality indicators, and generate reports to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of Utopia’s Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAIP) program.
  • Provide training, education, and support to clinical staff on best practices, quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead and assist in root cause analysis and corrective action planning following incidents, complaints, or adverse outcomes.
  • Ensure infection control protocols are followed and participate in surveillance and prevention initiatives.
  • Assist in preparing for accreditation surveys and regulatory inspections.
  • Promote a culture of safety, excellence and continuous improvement across the Utopia team.

Staff Development

  • Develops, organizes and coordinates orientation programs for new clinicians and agency staff and provides ongoing clinical education programs.
  • Oversees the provision of clinical in-service programs
  • Focuses on providing staff orientation and education programs that will assist in recruiting and retaining a high quality clinical staff.
  • Serves as an educator to mentor staff relative to program orientation and regulatory compliance.
  • Stays abreast of changing practices in regulations of home health care industries in order to provide training to meet organizational objectives in the delivery of care.
  • Meets regularly with staff to share best practice, professional support, and exchange feedback aimed toward enhancing professional growth.

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of ( 10 ) lbs.

Salary Range:

  • $100,000 - $105,000

Work Environment:

  • General office with travel to all Connecticut branch offices and corporate offices.
  • Occasional exposure to patient elements.

Occupational Exposure:

  • Category 2 – This job has duties and responsibilities to perform tasks and procedures where occupational exposure would not occur unless required to perform category 1 tasks.
