Quantity Surveying Deputy Project Manager

Role Purpose

Manages the commercial aspects of a construction project at a senior level, providing oversight on cost planning, contract negotiation, and financial risk control. This role serves as the link between the project management and quantity surveying functions, ensuring commercial strategies are implemented efficiently and in line with project delivery goals.

Key Accountabilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all quantity surveying and commercial matters.
  • Lead preparation of cost plans, budgets, and contractual strategies.
  • Oversee claims, dispute resolution, and contract negotiations.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager on key decisions and progress monitoring.
  • Supervise and evaluate QS team and consultant performance.
  • Provide strategic input on value engineering and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Review and validate monthly cost reports, forecasts, and risk assessments.
  • Support procurement strategies and subcontractor selection processes.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 10+ years of experience in quantity surveying and project-based roles, including managerial responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial project management and contract law (particularly FIDIC).
  • Proven leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in project and cost management software.
  • Very good command of English (written and spoken).
  • PMP, MRICS, or equivalent professional certification is an advantage.
