Job Title: Quantity Surveyor
Reporting To: Head of Projects
Job Purpose:
The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all project costs from initial inquiry stage through project completion ensuring effective cost planning, material estimation, budget control, and financial performance monitoring. The role supports management by providing accurate cost analysis, resource planning, and regular project performance updates against approved KPIs.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Pre-Contract / Tender Stage:
1. Review new project inquiries, drawings, specifications, and BOQs to prepare accurate quantity take-offs.
2. Estimate materials, manpower, equipment, subcontractor, and overall project resources required for each new inquiry/tender.
3. Prepare detailed cost estimates and pricing proposals for management review and approval.
4. Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations and evaluate commercial offers.
5. Identify cost risks, exclusions, and value engineering opportunities during tender stage.
6. Prepare project budgets before commencement.
7. Monitor and control actual project costs versus approved budgets on ongoing projects.
8. Track material consumption, labor productivity, subcontractor costs, and equipment utilization against planned targets.
9. Review and approve material requisitions/LPOs in line with approved budgets and project requirements.
10. Monitor project cash flow and prepare weekly projected cash requirements.
11. Identify cost overruns, analyze root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
12. Maintain updated cost records and project financial dashboards.
13. Prepare and verify interim valuations, payment applications, and final accounts.
14. Measure and evaluate variations/change orders and assess their commercial impact.
15. Review subcontractor quotations, payment certificates, and final settlements.
16. Support contract administration and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
17. Assist in claims preparation related to delays, variations, and additional scope.

20. Support management in decision-making through accurate forecasting and project performance analysis.
