Job Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor with a strong electrical and mechanical engineering background to support MEP cost planning, estimation, and contract administration across various construction and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in MEP quantity surveying, with a solid understanding of cost control, procurement, tendering, and project financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare MEP cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities (BOQ) based on project drawings and specifications.
- Evaluate MEP tenders and contracts, including quantity take-offs, unit rate analysis, and pricing.
- Monitor project budgets and ensure cost-effective procurement and delivery of MEP materials and subcontracted works.
- Conduct site measurements, valuations, and cost reconciliations for electrical and mechanical works.
- Prepare progress payment applications, interim valuations, and final accounts.
- Assess and process variations, claims, and change orders related to MEP services.
- Assist in value engineering and cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or performance.
- Coordinate with project managers, design consultants, and MEP engineers to ensure accurate forecasting and cost control.
- Maintain records of all project documents and contractual correspondences related to MEP works.
- Ensure compliance with local codes, standards, and contract specifications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certifications such as MRICS, CIQS, or equivalent are advantageous.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in quantity surveying with specific focus on MEP systems.
- Solid understanding of MEP installations, materials, and construction methods.
- Proficient in cost estimating software (e.g., CostX, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, MS Excel).
- Familiarity with FIDIC, NEC, or other standard contract forms.
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and reporting skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with high-rise buildings, hospitals, data centers, or industrial plants.
- Knowledge of building services design and coordination.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
