Job Summary
The Quantity Surveyor – MEP (Electrical) is responsible for cost estimation, budgeting, contract administration, and financial control of electrical works including power, lighting, ELV, earthing, and lightning protection systems. The role ensures accurate valuations, cost efficiency, and compliance with contract requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities Cost & Commercial Management
- Prepare quantity take-offs and cost estimates for electrical MEP works
- Develop BOQs, budgets, and cost plans based on drawings and specifications
- Monitor project costs and manage budgets to prevent overruns
Tendering & Contracts
- Prepare tender documents and assist in tender evaluations
- Analyze electrical subcontractor quotations and recommend awards
- Prepare and administer subcontract agreements
Measurement & Valuation
- Measure executed electrical works and prepare monthly progress claims
- Evaluate subcontractor payment applications and certify payments
- Prepare and evaluate variation orders, claims, and final accounts
Risk & Value Management
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities related to electrical scope
- Ensure best value for money for clients and the company
- Advise on lifecycle and maintenance costs of electrical systems
Reporting & Coordination
- Prepare regular cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow statements
- Coordinate with electrical engineers, site teams, and planning departments
- Maintain accurate cost records and supporting documentation
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure compliance with contract conditions, project specifications, and UAE regulations
- Follow company policies, HSE requirements, and quality standards
Skills Required
- Strong numerical, analytical, and cost control skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good understanding of electrical MEP systems (power, lighting, ELV, etc.)
- Strong negotiation and contract administration skills
- Proficiency in MS Excel and cost control software
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Strong teamwork and coordination skills
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering / Quantity Surveying (Preferred)
Experience
- Minimum 2–5 years of UAE experience as an Electrical MEP Quantity Surveyor
- Experience in commercial, residential, or industrial MEP projects
Preferred
- Familiarity with UAE authority standards (DEWA, ADDC, SEWA, etc.)
- Experience in MEP contracting environment
