R & D Scientist

Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled and experienced R&D professional with strong expertise in Probiotics, Enzymes, and Fermentation processes to join our Research & Development team. The candidate will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and scaling up fermentation processes with a focus on Upstream and Downstream operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Research, development, and optimization of probiotic strains and enzyme products.
• Design, execution, and optimization of fermentation processes.
• Hands-on experience in Upstream processes including media development, inoculum preparation, and fermentation parameter optimization.
• Expertise in Downstream processing such as cell harvesting, separation, purification, concentration, and drying.
• Scale-up and technology transfer from lab to pilot and commercial scale.
• Preparation and review of R&D documentation, protocols, SOPs, and technical reports.
• Collaboration with Production, Quality Assurance, and Quality Control teams.
• Ensure compliance with cGMP, GLP, and regulatory guidelines.
• Troubleshooting process deviations and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

Desired Candidate Profile:

• Educational Qualification: M.Sc / M.Tech / Ph.D in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
• Experience: 3–10 years of relevant industry experience in fermentation-based pharma or biotech products.
• Strong knowledge of probiotics, enzymes, and microbial fermentation.
• Hands-on experience in Upstream & Downstream processing.
• Familiarity with bioreactors, fermenters, and purification systems.
• Good understanding of pharma documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in strain improvement or process optimization.
• Knowledge of scale-up strategies and technology transfer.
• Exposure to international regulatory requirements is an added advantage.
