Radio Optimization Engineer.Service Operation & Optimization

Job Purpose

To optimize the radio network to have the optimum performance through standard guidelines in alignment with the department objectives.

Report To Position Name

• Applies effective tuning measures to improve 2G/3G network KPIs including Call Failure Rate (CFR), Call Drop Rate (CDR), Handover Success Rate, Soft Handover Success Rate, Location Area update, Paging Success rate and CSSR and HSDPA/EDGE/GPRS KPI’s to ensure competitive quality of service all over the network.
• Outlines and provide network capacity studies for the required 2G/3G expansions ensuring network performance in alignment with marketing promotions and subscriber growth.
• Initiates and participates in trials for new products, features and projects to support the decision taking.
• Participates in clusters and major roads optimization campaigns to enhance company’s competitive position.
• Actively participates in resolving customers’ complaints to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Solves and corrects radio network problems according to agreed timing and standards set, to detect and highlight radio network deficiencies and to some extent predict future degradations.
• Applies frequency re-tuning and antenna optimization in coordination with Radio Network Design (RND) to enhance the network performance.
• Co-ordinates roles execution and checking, with the RF planning, Rollout teams, to ensure that new sites have acceptable performance.
• Prepares technical reports and conduct presentation related to the Section’s activities, achievements and outstanding issues to highlight section progress and performance.
• Designs and reviews regular drive test routes while performing field drive test measurement and analysis to ensure competitive quality of service all over the network.

QUALIFICATIONS_ESSENTIAL

University Degree in Telecommunications Engineering.
Minimum 1 to 2 years experience in RF Optimization.
Very good computer skills (Specially Ms Excel & Access).
Good knowledge in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Power Point.
Good experience in drive test tools as TEMS.
Very Good in Arabic & English, reading, writing, & oral.

GSM system overview training course (GSM, GPRS, EDGE, & UMTS).
Soft skills training courses (time management & technical writing).

QUALIFICATIONS_DESIRABLE

Experience in all RF functions (planning, optimization, capacity planning, and indoor design).
Good experience in in-building design.
Good knowledge and experience in Visual Basic and Macro creation.
Skill to develop software tools.
Previous experience with local mobile operator.
Good negotiation skills.
