Position Purpose:
All KHI employees are expected to perform their respective tasks and duties in such a way that supports KHI’s vision of providing the region’s best clinical care and patient service through an environment that fosters respect for others and pride in performance.
Works under the direction of the director, assistant director, and supervisor to perform a variety of activities related to the transportation of patients, specimens, and equipment to and from the Imaging Services department.
Key Responsibilities
- Ability to safely lift and physically manipulate patients.
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
- Ability to focus and demonstrate visual and auditory acuity for watching monitors and following instructions during procedures.
- Operate assigned equipment and perform all procedures in a safe manner while delivering high quality service to patients and customers.
- Maintains the area, equipment and supplies. Removes outdated supplies and returns to materials management.
- Performs daily cleaning of all patient transport equipment.
- Utilize effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Regularly applies AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) as well as other evidence-based behaviors when taking care of patients. Shows empathy care to patients and family members present.
- Practices standard precautions during patient contact and while handling contaminated materials.
- Complies with CDC hand hygiene guidelines and works to reduce hospital acquired infections and other conditions.
- Actively helps the department meet the identified Patient Satisfaction goal.
- Demonstrates regular attendance and participation at scheduled department and team meetings.
- Comply with all Federal, State, organizational, and departmental policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Required Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent (if hired will need to provide diploma or official transcripts)
Required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
Preferences
- Ability to manage and utilize technological resources (computers, phone, tablets, etc.)
Special Position Requirements
Exposure Category I: Expected duties have routine potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues.
- Other potential hazards: exposure to chemical, biological, and radioactive substances; possible exposure to hostile individuals.
- Possible exposure to blood product and radiation
Work Requirements
- Lifting equipment up to 50lbs, pushing equipment up to 150lbs, and assisting with the movement of an adult patient weighing over 300lbs
- Ability to safely lift and physically manipulate patients
- Standing and walking for the duration of the entire scheduled shift
