Railroad Facility Janitor

Job Summary

Crown Facility Services, LLC — a woman-owned commercial janitorial company serving the Helena, Alabama area — is seeking a dedicated Janitorial Worker to maintain cleanliness and safety at railroad facility locations. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial, residential, or industrial cleaning, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to providing a clean and welcoming environment. This role involves performing routine cleaning tasks, floor care, and light maintenance duties to ensure all areas meet our high standards of hygiene and appearance.

This is a part-time position with shifts running 4–6 hours, giving you the remainder of your day for other commitments. Attendance is mandatory and consistent performance is essential, as our railroad clients depend on reliable service at every visit.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and trash removal in designated areas
• Conduct floor care activities such as buffing, stripping, and waxing to maintain flooring quality
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, kitchens, and common areas according to established protocols
• Use appropriate cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and effectively
• Operate floor machines and auto scrubbers to clean and maintain hard-surface floors
• Assist with custodial tasks related to facilities maintenance and minor repairs as needed
• Maintain cleaning supplies inventory and notify management when supplies are low
• Follow all OSHA safety procedures and use personal protective equipment during all cleaning activities
• Support commercial and railroad cleaning projects requiring specialized techniques or equipment
• Ensure all work areas are kept organized, safe, and hazard-free
• Complete daily service reports and submit electronic paperwork via smartphone apps (must be able to take screenshots and upload photos)
• Maintain mandatory attendance — reliable, consistent presence on your assigned railroad route is required

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Prior janitorial or custodial experience preferred; commercial or industrial cleaning experience is a plus
• Minimum of two (2) years of commercial, industrial, or sanitation janitorial experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Knowledge of floor care techniques including buffing, stripping, and waxing
• Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety procedures
• Must have knowledge of and ability to follow OSHA standards
• Must successfully pass a background check prior to hire
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to safety standards
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards
• Reliable work ethic with good time management skills
• Proficient smartphone skills — must complete electronic paperwork, take screenshots, and upload documentation via apps
• Previous experience in facilities maintenance or porter roles is advantageous
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus, but not required

Physical Requirements

Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks which may include:

• Lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
• Lifting and carrying supplies and trash receptacles (up to 50 lbs)
• Operating commercial floor cleaning machinery and auto scrubbers
• Working in varying indoor environments including railroad facilities

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
