Raleigh County Public Library Clerk

The Raleigh County Public Library is anticipating an opening for:

• One (1) 20 - hour/week Library Aide position

Starting hourly rate: $10.20

These positions provide direct customer service at the Library’s Service Desk and assist with maintaining organized, accessible collections.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome and assist community members with library services.
• Help patrons locate items in the library
• Use library software to manage patron accounts.
• Assist with computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, and other equipment.
• Handle check-in/check-out of materials and process fee payments (cash/credit).
• Maintain collections by cleaning and shelving materials.
• Stay informed about library programs and services to answer patron questions, assist with programs as needed.
• Ensure accurate organization of library materials using alphabetical and numeric systems.
• Consistently provide courteous, professional customer service.

Qualifications

• Strong skills in alphabetical/numerical organization, spelling, and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person and by phone.
• Basic computer knowledge and troubleshooting skills.
• Customer service experience and ability to handle varied situations tactfully.
• Flexibility to work a variable schedule including days, evenings, and weekends.

Physical Demands

• Work performed primarily inside the library.
• Requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, talking, and hearing.
• Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.

Location: Raleigh County Public Library

Schedule: Part-time, variable shifts (days/evenings/weekends)
