R&D Chemist / Research Pharmacist – Cosmetics & Skincare

We are looking for an R&D Chemist / Research Pharmacist responsible for formulation development, improvement, and troubleshooting of cosmetic and skincare products. The role will focus on developing safe, stable, and effective topical formulations in compliance with regulatory and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Formulation & Development

Develop and optimize formulations for creams, lotions, gels, serums, face wash, body products

Modify existing formulations to improve stability, texture, performance, and cost

Select suitable raw materials, actives, emulsifiers, preservatives

Perform lab-scale trials and assist in scale-up to production

Testing & Evaluation

Conduct stability studies (physical, temperature, observation-based)

Perform compatibility testing with packaging

Evaluate pH, viscosity, appearance, odor, and performance

Identify and resolve formulation-related issues (separation, instability, irritation risk)

Documentation & Compliance

Prepare and maintain formulation records, development reports, SOPs

Assist QA in preparing technical documents if required

Ensure formulations align with GMP and cosmetic regulatory requirements

Support product data needed for registration and approvals

Coordination & Support

Work closely with Production Chemist during scale-up and trials

Support QA/QC during process validation and investigations

Assist management in new product ideation and line extensions

Stay updated with new cosmetic ingredients and trends

Requirements

Bachelor’s / Master’s in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or related field

1+ year experience in skincare or cosmetic R&D

Strong knowledge of:

Emulsions, gels, surfactant systems

Cosmetic actives and preservatives

Stability and formulation troubleshooting

Ability to work independently in a small R&D setup

Experience in UAE cosmetic industry is a plus

Salary

AED 2,000 – 3,000 per month (based on experience)
