R&D Technician

Company Overview
TheraTest Laboratories: Advanced immunoassay manufacturer and developer with 30 + years of experience in clinical IVD device production.

Duties

• 8:30 am – 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday full time position.
• Perform ELISA assays on new products and assay components for the development of new ELISA assays and/or improvement of existing ELISA assays.
• Assist with protein purification by performing FPLC column chromatography on the AKTA Avant (ion exchange, immunoaffinity, size exclusion, etcetera).
• Perform gel electrophoresis on purified proteins.
• Perform cell culturing
• Create ELISA assay kit components such as conjugates, antigen coated 96-well plates, calibrators and control samples.
• Attend weekly R&D meetings, communicate results, and strategize next steps in research or development with the R&D team.
• Communicate with other departments (i.e. quality control, production) to assist in transferring developed products to said departments for potential product release.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment such as pipettes, spectrophotometers, liquid nitrogen tanks, etcetera.
• Apply GMP to ensure that products are consistently produced and controlled according to quality standards.
• Paperwork, Microsoft Excel use, and document organization performed daily.
• Perform general laboratory tasks such as centrifugation, vacuum filtration, etcetera.
• Occasionally work in a cold room environment.
• Handle frozen calf organs, such as calf thymus and spleen.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, or related field.
• Experience with chromatography (ion exchange, affinity, size exclusion, etc.) a plus, not required.
• Experience with ELISA assays a plus, not required.
• Cell culture experience a plus, not required.
• Skills with laboratory tools and instruments (i.e. centrifuge, filters) preferred.
• Ability to work in a cold room environment (2-8 C) for protein purification required.
• Ability and willingness to work with and handle frozen calf organs for protein purification required.
• Multitask and work well in a group environment.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Computer skills, including Windows, Excel, Word, etc.
• Listening and good verbal communication skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
