Reading/Math Tutor

Thriving Minds Learning Center is a tutoring center offering in person individualized instruction in reading, writing, and math to students in grades 1-8 with learning challenges including dyslexia, ADHD, autism, and other learning differences.

We are seeking part-time instructors who can work a full school year to tutor in the subjects of reading, writing, and math at our office in Campbell, California, in addition to offering online tutoring.

This is a position with the potential to grow up to 15-25 hours per week.

Job requirements:

• Must be available up to 20 hours a week
• Must have reliable transportation
• Must provide excellent references that demonstrate work with children and/or successful tutoring/teaching of students
• Must pass background check
• Saturdays are required for this position

Hours May Include:

Monday - Friday: 1:30 to 7:30pm

Saturdays 9:00 to 3:00pm

Summer Hours May Include (mid June - mid-August):

Monday - Friday: 9:00am to 7:30pm

Saturdays 9:00 to 3:00pm

Experience teaching the following subjects is preferred:

• Reading
• Writing
• Elementary and Middle school level math
• High school level English and math experience is a plus
• Experience teaching reading with Orton-Gillingham programs is a plus

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions in reading and math for students, focusing on individual learning needs.
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and curriculum tailored to students' skill levels.
• Foster a supportive and positive learning environment, managing student session dynamics effectively.
• Communicate regularly with students and parents to discuss progress and areas for improvement.
