A leading multifamily real estate operator is looking for a Real Estate/Property Accountant to join the firm’s accounting, finance, treasury, budgeting, and reporting team.

Summary 

Morrison Avenue Capital Partners, a leading sponsor of multifamily real estate development and acquisitions, is seeking a skilled Property Accountant with experience in real estate accounting and capital markets to join the team. The successful candidate will serve as a key member of the team, working closely with the Senior Controller to participate in and support pivotal decisions as they relate to strategic initiatives. The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of financial reporting – both corporate and operational planning, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, treasury, vendors, governance, and insurance– as well as overseeing cash flow projections, budgets, and analysis, with a special emphasis on overseeing accurate and timely tax reporting. The candidate will also be responsible for GAAP reporting on our corporate proprietary anchor funds and managing the tax and audit of that fund. 

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements/reporting packages.
• Ensure all cash activity and movements are recorded daily and follow ownership structures.
• Analyze various transactions and identify appropriate accounting treatment.
• Review property financials prepared by third party property management firms.
• Reconcile monthly bank statements to the general ledger.
• Manages and monitors the organization's cash flow and capital needs.
• Reconcile and allocate intercompany costs amongst different properties monthly.
• Has a “can-do” productive self-motivated attitude, demonstrates initiative and suggests improved processes.
• Ad-hoc projects as requested by Senior Management.

Qualifications:

• 2-3 years of real estate or financial accounting required, with experience in multifamily housing a plus.
• Demonstrated experience with web-based accounting software programs (QuickBooks Online, Yardi, Sage Intacct, Juniper Square, etc.).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (word, excel, power point)
