We have an exciting opportunity for a Receiving Clerk Assistant to join our Production Department. The Receiving Clerk Assistant is responsible for assisting in the receipt and inspection of plants, seeds, and horticultural supplies in a greenhouse setting. Aids in insuring that all incoming shipments are accurately processed and documented, maintaining the highest quality standards for the greenhouse operations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in receiving all products into PICAS by carefully comparing quantities in PICAS with quantities on packing slip.
  • Print production labels needed for the week, along with categorizing varieties and placing them in plastic bags.
  • Assists Receiving Clerk with pull seed needed for production and re-sows, additionally receive seed arriving and deducting seed usage at end of each week
  • Sign off any FedEx or UPS deliveries.Verify quantity and condition of boxes delivered.
  • Prep seed labels for seed production – printing seed labels that are needed for the following week
  • Forward all packing slips to accounts payable/accounting clerk
  • Organize and store all seed or TC material received.
  • Assess the quality of incoming plants and supplies, ensuring they meet greenhouse standards.
  • Remove any subpar items from inventory and communicate with purchasing manager and production assistant.
  • Help with Monthly Inventory / cycle counting/ year-end seed inventory.
  • Work closely with production to ensure smooth integration of new inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and best practices.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of receiving areas.
  • Participate in weekly 6s activities
  • Participate in daily A.M Production Meeting in absence of Receiving Clerk
  • Operates as Receiving Clerk back-up in case of absence or PTO
  • COMPETENCIES:

  • Attention to detail ability to accurately inspect and document incoming shipments, ensuring quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Organizational Skills strong ability to manage inventory, maintain accurate records, and keep receiving areas organized and clutter-free.
  • Communication Skills effective verbal and written communication for interacting with team members, suppliers, and management regarding shipments and inventory issues.
  • Problem – Solving Skills Capacity to identify issues with shipments and find effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Technical Proficiency, familiarity with inventory management using PICAS and basic computer skills for data entry and record keeping.
  • Teamwork ability to collaborate with greenhouse staff and coordinate efforts to ensure smooth operations and efficient inventory handling.
  • Time Management skill in prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively to meet deadlines, especially during peak receiving periods.
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems or software is a plus.
  • Experience in quality control or inspection processes related to plants or agricultural products is beneficial.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work long hours as needed during busy season, including weekends.
  • Work both in an office and warehouse environment.
  • Work indoor and outdoors, in seasonal temperatures and conditions.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds in an environment that is often hot.

PAY RANGE: $20 per hour

Pay rate is determined by various components including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The pay rate is one component of the total compensation package. Other rewards vary by position and location.
