POSITION PURPOSE:
The Central Office Receptionist is responsible for managing all internal and external people who present themselves at the Central Office. This includes providing information and directing customers to other appropriate offices, announcing their arrival to administrators and applicable staff, and overseeing the sign-in/sign-out system. The Central Office Receptionist will greet and interact with visitors to the Central Office in a positive and professional manner, including in person, on the phone, and in writing. The Central Office Receptionist will also serve as a backup to our Transcript Specialist.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent and two years of related work experience OR an Associate’s Degree and two years of working experience
Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
Previous experience as a receptionist or in customer service is preferred.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Valid driver’s license issued by the NC Department of Motor Vehicles
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operates a multi-line telephone system to receive incoming calls and messages.
Greet and welcome visitors in a warm and professional manner, both in person and over the phone.
Answer incoming calls, direct them to the appropriate departments, and take messages when necessary.
Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
Maintains familiarity with general information relevant to the Alamance-Burlington School System.
Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and document preparation.
Ensure a smooth and efficient operation of the front desk area by providing excellent customer service and maintaining a positive atmosphere.
Serve as backup to the Transcript Specialist by monitoring and processing transcript and student record requests; retrieving records from multiple platforms; ensuring FERPA compliance; processing payments; assisting with inactive records management and data corrections; and maintaining confidentiality and accuracy of student information systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work is considered medium physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force. Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Employees in this position are required to work in indoor and outdoor environments, and come into direct contact with ABSS staff, students and the public
