Hiring range for this position is $40,996.80- $49,004.80. Initial placement for new employees is customarily at entry level through 35% percentile. Pay grade for this position is 14.
This position is located in the Sheriff's Department.
General Definition of Work:
Performs intermediate administrative support and technical work assisting the public and coding, reporting, filing and researching law enforcement records; does related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of a deputy sheriff/sergeant.
Essential Functions/Typical Tasks:
Receiving, processing and maintaining law enforcement files and records; providing general office clerical duties.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
General knowledge of modern law enforcement record keeping procedures and practices; general knowledge of law enforcement forms, terminology and records; thorough knowledge of departmental programs, policies and procedures; ability to perform a considerable volume of detailed record work; ability to maintain files; ability to type accurately and at a reasonable rate of speed; ability to speak distinctly and hear clearly; ability to operate two-way radio and general office equipment; ability to follow oral and written directions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience in general clerical work.

Physical Requirements:
This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects; work requires stooping, kneeling, reaching, walking, fingering, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of machines, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.
