Key Responsibilities:

General Responsibilities

–Deliver professional audio-visual and recording support across film, music, visual arts, and performing spaces, ensuring the highest standards of sound capture, editing, mixing, and live event production.

–Ensure alignment of AV and recording operations with the university’s academic and artistic objectives.

–Represent the university in performances, screenings, and productions with professionalism, technical excellence, and cultural awareness.

–Foster innovation in AV practices, recording techniques, and multimedia integration to enhance student and faculty creative output.

Strategic Responsibilities

–Develop and oversee the university’s long-term AV and recording strategy to support academic excellence, artistic innovation, and cultural positioning.

–Collaborate with faculty, department heads, and creative leads to ensure AV and recording solutions align with artistic and curricular goals.

–Build and maintain relationships with equipment vendors, technical partners, and freelance engineers to ensure access to cutting-edge technologies and services.

–Establish KPIs for AV system performance, student engagement, recording quality, and event delivery effectiveness, ensuring continuous improvement.

Operational Responsibilities

–Lead the setup, operation, and maintenance of recording studios, AV systems, and live sound reinforcement for events and productions.

–Manage budgets for AV systems, recording equipment, and live event support, ensuring cost-effectiveness and technical reliability.

–Perform advanced audio editing, mixing, mastering, and synchronization with video for academic submissions, screenings, and interdisciplinary projects.

–Oversee live event AV operations, including sound, projection, and playback, ensuring seamless delivery under dynamic conditions.

–Supervise AV technicians, freelance engineers, and student assistants to meet project and event delivery standards.

–Ensure compliance with copyright, licensing, and institutional policies related to recorded content.


Skills Requirements:

Management capabilities

–Experience in managing AV technicians and freelance engineers.

–Ability to drive end-to-end AV project planning, execution, and performance monitoring.

–Skilled in vendor management, procurement, and technical infrastructure oversight.

–Strong project management skills with the ability to deliver high-quality outcomes under live-event pressure.

Interpersonal skills

–Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate with faculty, students, IT, and FM teams.

–Strong training, mentorship, and knowledge-sharing abilities with students and technical staff.

–Negotiation and presentation skills when liaising with vendors and external partners.

–Creativity, adaptability, and problem-solving abilities in dynamic production environments.


Qualifications

–10+ years of hands-on experience in professional recording and AV engineering, preferably in academic or performing arts environments.

–Demonstrated expertise in studio and live sound workflows, including mic placement, signal flow, mixing, and mastering.

–Proven experience working with DAWs (e.g., Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Ableton Live) and AV systems across performance and studio settings.
