We seek a dynamic, proactive Recruiter/HR Assistant to join our Human Resources team. In this role, you will support essential HR functions and initiatives while leading our recruitment efforts. Your collaboration with the leadership team across the organization to develop and implement effective sourcing strategies, attract top talent, evaluate candidates, and manage the recruitment process across multiple departments will significantly impact our company's success in the Special Education industry. This position offers an exciting opportunity for someone eager to expand their HR expertise and make a meaningful difference. This is a full-time on-site role in Pasadena, CA. The role will be split between recruitment duties and supporting the HR department, with responsibilities adjusted as needed to align with the company's and the department's priorities. The ideal candidate must be a strategic, well-versed HR professional with a strong focus on recruitment and a solid understanding of HR functions. This role requires a true partner who is detail-oriented, creative, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities effectively.

Description

The candidate should demonstrate the ability to:
  • Lead and execute full-cycle recruitment efforts, including creative sourcing from nontraditional channels.
  • Use critical analysis and creative sourcing methods to overcome recruiting challenges and deliver strong candidate pipelines.
  • Take ownership of recruitment goals, deadlines, and deliverables.
  • Balance recruiting and HR responsibilities while maintaining a high level of accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Develop and implement strategic sourcing initiatives to attract top talent and support organizational growth.
  • Manage multiple recruitment campaigns simultaneously while ensuring HR functions are completed to company standards and timelines.
  • Partner with leadership to align recruitment strategies with business objectives and workforce planning needs.
  • Five plus (5+) years of relevant experience as a recruiter.
  • Three plus (3+) years of relevant experience in Human Resources or related field.

Responsibilities

Recruitment & Talent Sourcing:
  • Assist in developing and implementing effective recruitment strategies.
  • Facilitate a smooth and efficient interview process.
  • Screen resumes and applications and conduct initial candidate phone/virtual screenings to identify qualified candidates.
  • Post job openings on various platforms, including job boards, social media, and the company website.
  • Administers appropriate assessments, references, and background screenings.
  • Collaborate closely with hiring managers to find the ideal candidates.
  • Generates qualified candidate talent pool through cost-effective efforts - Internet, alternative sourcing, etc.
  • Develop relationships and establish pipelines of top, diverse talent through partnerships with colleges and universities.
  • Develop the search strategy, including creating a targeted advertisement identifying candidates.
  • Assist in developing interview questions and assessment tools.
  • Manages candidate activity in the applicant tracking system (ATS).
  • Follow up with hiring managers regarding the recruiting process and department needs.
  • Organize and attend recruitment events to identify and attract qualified candidates, including career fairs, online job fairs, and community network events.
  • Represent the company for recruiting purposes at networking and industry events.
  • Demonstrate ability to attract, influence, and convert talent through key attraction and employment opportunities by understanding the educational landscape, competitive demographics, and employment value proposition.

Human Resources Support:
  • Assists in maintaining employee records, HR databases, and physical files.
  • Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Assist in coordinating HR training and programs.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and events, including surveys.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Lead Recruiting and HR process improvement initiatives as assigned; work with other team members to create and implement consistent processes & practices.
  • Act as an additional resource for employee inquiries, helping resolve workplace concerns to maintain a positive work environment.
  • Assist with payroll on an as-needed basis.
Additional Duties:
  • Create a positive and memorable experience for candidates throughout the entire recruitment and onboarding process.
  • Coordinate with hiring managers to ensure an effective candidate interview process.
  • Provide timely feedback and updates to candidates through clear and effective communication.
  • Develop and maintain a robust talent pipeline to meet current and future hiring needs.
  • Adhere to application/resume file and retention policies according to State and Federal policies and procedures.
  • Ensures HR practices comply with EEOC guidelines and employment laws, with a solid understanding of general HR policies and procedures.
  • Able to assist with internal/external audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Track and analyze recruitment metrics to measure the effectiveness of sourcing strategies.
  • Provide regular reports on Recruitment/HR activities to the leadership team.
  • Promote the company brand through social media, job boards, and recruitment events.
  • Organize and attend job fairs, networking events, and industry conferences as needed.
  • Collaborate with the leadership and marketing team to create engaging recruitment content.

Performs other related duties as assigned:
  • Performs additional duties as assigned, including tasks related to human resources, recruiting, payroll, and various projects or initiatives for the company or department.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, or related software.
  • Able to quickly learn systems and software used by the organization.
  • Knowledge of HRIS and ATS systems; experience with Gusto is a plus.

  • Leveraging Technology: Applying technology for improvements in organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Five plus (5+) years of relevant experience as a recruiter.
  • Three plus (3+) years of relevant experience in Human Resources or related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or other fields closely related to the job requirements.
  • Knowledge of CA labor laws and regulations.
  • Special Education (SPED) Experience is a plus but not required.
  • HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR) is a plus.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in California and possess.
  • Able to complete satisfactory Live Scan background screening and TB clearance.
