We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Referral Coordinator to join our healthcare team! Duties

  • Coordinate and process patient referrals across various medical specialties, ensuring timely and accurate submission.
  • Verify insurance coverage and benefits through insurance verification procedures to confirm patient eligibility and referral approval.
  • Maintain comprehensive medical records related to referrals, including documentation of authorization, correspondence, and follow-up notes.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to resolve any issues or delays in the referral process.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information during all stages of referral handling.
  • Utilize medical coding systems such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases), and ICD coding to accurately document diagnoses and procedures.
  • Manage appointment scheduling and coordinate follow-up care as needed to support patient treatment plans.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of managed care processes and insurance verification protocols.
  • Obtain Prior Authorizations as needed
  • Experience working in a medical office environment with familiarity in medical terminology.
  • Proficiency in handling medical records, medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), and understanding of HIPAA compliance standards.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a busy setting.
  • Effective communication skills for liaising with providers, insurance representatives, and patients.
  • Office experience with familiarity using electronic health records (EHR) systems or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of medical billing procedures and experience with medical office administrative tasks is highly desirable.
