Referral Coordinator

Job Overview
Our physical medicine and Pain Management office is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Referral Coordinator to join our team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to efficient patient care coordination while leveraging your medical office experience and knowledge of healthcare.

Duties

  • Coordinate and process patient referrals across various specialties, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate
  • Verify insurance coverage and benefits using managed care systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and insurance companies to schedule appointments and resolve issues promptly
  • Maintain detailed medical records, including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9 (International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision), ICD-10, and ICD coding for accurate billing and documentation
  • Ensure adherence to privacy standards by following HIPAA guidelines during all data handling activities
  • Collaborate with medical staff to update and manage medical records and ensure proper documentation of referrals
  • Assist in office operations by managing appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and maintaining organized medical files

Experience

  • Prior experience working in a medical office setting managing referrals
  • Strong knowledge of managed care processes, medical terminology, and medical coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10)
  • Familiarity with medical records management and insurance verification procedures
  • Experience with HIPAA compliance standards to protect patient confidentiality
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with patients, providers, and insurance representatives
  • Office experience demonstrating organizational skills and attention to detail in a healthcare environment

Pay: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
