Region 5 Mobile Crisis Counselor

Job Summary
We are seeking experienced and compassionate clinicians to join our Mobile Crisis Response team. This role provides immediate, community-based crisis intervention to individuals experiencing mental health and substance use emergencies. Services are delivered in homes and community settings, with a focus on rapid assessment, de-escalation, and stabilization.

The Mobile Crisis Response Specialist will utilize clinical skills to assess risk, develop safety plans, and determine appropriate levels of care. This position requires strong decision-making, the ability to work independently in high-pressure situations, and a commitment to trauma-informed, person-centered care.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Respond to behavioral health crisis calls in the community (homes, schools, public settings)
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health and substance use assessments, including suicide and risk evaluations
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention and de-escalation to stabilize individuals
  • Develop and implement individualized safety plans
  • Determine appropriate level of care (outpatient, crisis stabilization, inpatient hospitalization, detox, etc.)
  • Coordinate care with hospitals, law enforcement, CSBs, and community providers
  • Provide support, education, and guidance to clients and families during crisis situations
  • Complete timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation
  • Participate in on-call rotation, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and state regulations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field
  • MCR Certificate

Preferred / Accepted Credentials:

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP)
  • Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC)
  • Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS)
  • CSAC-A, QMHP-Trainee, or license-eligible candidates encouraged to apply
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in behavioral health, crisis intervention, or related field preferred
  • Strong assessment, de-escalation, and clinical decision-making skills
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress and unpredictable environments
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings and weekends

Pay: $60.00 per hour

License/Certification:

  • MCR Certificate (Required)
