Role Overview
The State Sales Manager will be responsible for driving agriculture seed business growth in the assigned state by appointing and managing A-class dealers, ensuring strong channel relationships, and delivering revenue targets. The role also requires leading and monitoring the on-ground product development team, ensuring effective product demonstrations, farmer engagement, and market development activities.
Key Responsibilities

Dealer Appointment Channel Management

Identify, appoint, and develop A-class dealers/distributors across key districts.

Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets through channel partners.

Ensure regular dealer engagement, stock availability, and timely collections.

Develop joint business plans with dealers to maximize market share.

Monitor dealer performance and provide necessary support to increase business.

Sales Market Expansion

Drive sales of company’s seed portfolio in the state.

Identify potential markets and implement territory expansion strategies.

Monitor competitor activities, pricing, and schemes; suggest counter-strategies.

Ensure compliance with company’s pricing, discount, and credit policies.

Product Development Demonstrations

Lead the Product Development (PD) team in planning and executing product demonstrations, field days, and farmer meetings.

Ensure timely sowing, crop monitoring, and reporting of PD trials.

Collect feedback from farmers and channel partners on product performance.

Support the R D/marketing team with field insights for product positioning.

Team Leadership Coordination

Supervise product development officers, field staff, and local sales executives.

Train and motivate team to achieve sales and product development goals.

Regularly review team performance and provide constructive feedback.

Reporting MIS

Submit regular sales, collection, and market intelligence reports.

Track dealer-wise and district-wise business performance.

Provide timely updates on product trials, farmer feedback, and competitor movements.

Candidate Profile

Education: B.Sc. / M.Sc. Agriculture preferred; MBA in Agri-Business / Marketing will be an added advantage.

Experience: 12-15 years in seed/agri-input sales with at least 7-8 years in a managerial role.

Strong dealer network and relationship management skills.

Good knowledge of seed business, cropping patterns, and farming practices in the state.

Team management, leadership, and communication skills.

Ability to travel extensively across the state.
