Home/Life Services Inc., established in 1995, is a community-based human services organization
committed to improving the economic and social health of families impacted by homelessness.
Operating from a client-centered perspective, Home/Life provides a safe and therapeutic environment
that supports the social and economic independence of its families served. By developing and
implementing innovative services and programs within our Families with Children’s facilities, we
provide case management and job counseling, as well as help our families access the economic
housing support that allows them to enter and stay in permanent housing.
Under the direction of the Chief Operating O?cer, The Director of Shelter Operations will assist in
the management of all aspects of the organization’s Social Services division including Shelter
Operations, People and Culture. This position will liaison with senior management in the
establishment and execution of all operational and people strategies across the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
The responsibilities of The Director of Shelter Operations include but not limited to:
Administrative:
? Hire and supervise new Shelter Directors.
? Assist with the daily management of senior staff within shelters as well as other key roles
including all Clinical Supervisors (LCSWs).
? Assist with the Performance Counseling and Action Plans of senior leaders as well as other
? shelter staff. Ensure that managers and supervisors are well-versed in the Agency’s counseling
process.
? Liaison with the Chief Operating O?cer on all shelter operations and activities.
? Liaison regularly with NYC’s Department of Homeless Services and its representatives.
? Assist in the implementation and upholding of Agency policies and procedures.
? Ensure that company ethics and values are represented at the shelter level by Program
Directors and supervisors.
? Assist in the opening of new facilities.
? Manage and disseminate company-wide communications as needed.
? Recording quality issues and maintaining documentation of inspections, results, and
recommendations.
? Ensure all documentation meets agency standards and is in compliance with DHS.
? Review case ?les and client records to ensure all documentation is completed.
? Generate reports to conduct audits and collaborate with Quality Assurance.
Leadership and Staff Development:
? Participate in the development of a clinical care model across the organization’s portfolio
? Develop training guides for all clinical care workers
? Facilitate clinical trainings for new hires and quarterly for tenured agency staff
? Assist in the hosting of workshops and leadership meetings.
? Mentor and train clinical team members
? Provide leadership and oversight to Program Directors for daily operations at all sites to
ensure e?ciency, safety, and alignment with agency values
? Develop and enforce operational policies and procedures
? Promote a culture of equity, accountability, and compassion
? Ensure the appropriate supervision and performance management is given to Program Directors
? Represent the Organization at community meetings, presentations, etc.
Programmatic Achievement:
? Conduct regular internal audits of assigned facilities to ensure readiness for external
inspection by the City and State.
? Collect, analyze, and summarize facility weekly activity reports for review by COO.
? Assist with ensuring all shelters are meeting quarterly and yearly targets set forth by DHS.
? Identify and implement solution-based action plans when targets are not achieved.
? Improving best practices: Establishing and improving company best practices for clinical care.
? Must be able to report to work as scheduled during any emergency (essential employee).

Skills and Quali?cations
? Must be an exceptionally effective written and verbal communicator.
? 5+ years in an Operational Management role.
? Impeccable attention to detail.
? Proven track record of successfully managing the operations and people of a multi-unit
business.
? Experience working in Shelter preferred.
Salary: $130k - $150k
