Regional Environmental Engineer, AWS Environmental Team

DESCRIPTION

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. As a Regional Environmental Engineer (REE), you will be responsible for environmental compliance at AWS data centers in Indiana. You will develop standards and policies to support regulatory compliance, complete environmental performance analysis, establish and monitor metrics, and guide the teams in implementation of Amazon environmental standards. You will provide guidance and build effective relationships with internal and external partners, including government entities, contractors, consultants, design, construction, operations and other key stakeholders.

This position is based in New Carlisle, IN and will require travel throughout the state.

Key job responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee compliance with environmental regulations and Amazon policy;
  • Drive an environmentally responsible culture within the organization;
  • Ensure work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees is completed in accordance with Amazon standards;
  • Develop environmental metrics to measure, monitor and forecast performance;
  • Conduct thorough and accurate environmental audits for continuous improvement;
  • Prioritize and manage multiple technically complex assignments concurrently;
  • Represent Amazon at appropriate levels with governmental agencies and throughout the company;
  • Build collaborative relationships with various stakeholders to ensure risks are identified early and managed appropriately;
  • Assist in time-critical report submission to various governmental agencies;
  • Complete thorough and accurate environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports and develop appropriate corrective action.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS degree in chemistry, chemical or environmental engineering, or related field of study
  • 2+ years serving as an environmental technical resource, compliance specialist, or regulatory program manager
  • 2+ years with regulatory assessments, air emissions evaluations, water discharge requirements, and waste management
  • Broad knowledge of US environmental regulations

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience leading change in multiple site environments and the ability to influence those that are not direct reports or within your organization
  • Experience successfully implementing environmental systems and compliance programs in operational settings

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $83,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
