General Summary:
Acts as a Charge RN in Pre-op and PACU areas within the Ambulatory Surgery Center. Works under the supervision of the ASC Director of Nursing
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Manages the Pre-op/PACU staff to ensure smooth daily operations and effective patient flow.

Ensure Pre-op and PACU staff compliance to departmental policies, procedures and safety programs.

Assists the Director of Nursing with daily staffing for Pre-op and PACU.

Monitor and manage personnel hours to ensure maximum productivity.

Assist the ASC Educator with the orientation of new staff members.

Provides input for employee evaluations to the Director of Nursing.

Assist with developing and revising departmental policies and procedures.
-
Conducts policy review for ASPAN standards.

Evaluates the need for new equipment and supplies in Pre-op and PACU areas and makes recommendations to the Director of Nursing for purchase/lease.

Addresses and solves problems within the scope of the job.

Assists in developing monthly staffing and on-call (stay late) schedule to provide adequate coverage for Pre-op and PACU areas of the department.

Assists the ASC Educator in the development and completion of Pre-OP/PACU competencies.

Assists the Director of Nursing in quality improvement and infection prevention activities.

Maintains a liaison role with management team, staff, physicians, other departments, etc.

Functions daily in the clinical area.

Ensure that staff maintains a neat, orderly and safe work area.

Ensures equipment is properly maintained and handles equipment failure/maintenance issues in the Pre-op and PACU areas.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Required:
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical perioperative experience is required.
- Consistently arrives at work, in professional attire, on time and completes all tasks within established time frame.
- Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.
- Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current State of Ohio RN license
Preferred:
- BLS and ACLS Certification required. PALS is preferred.
- Prior management or leadership experience is preferred.
