Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dental team at Super Smiles 4 Kids. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality dental care to our patients, assisting the dentist during procedures, and ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow within the clinic. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, excellent chairside assisting skills, and familiarity with various dental software systems.
Duties
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays while ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Manage patient records, including medical documentation and medical records, using EMR systems such as Dentrix.
- Conduct preliminary assessments by taking vital signs and gathering patient medical histories.
- Provide chairside assistance during various dental procedures including general dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Educate patients on post-operative care, oral hygiene practices, and treatment plans.
- Assist with scheduling appointments and managing the front desk as needed, including roles typically performed by a dental receptionist.
- Maintain an organized inventory of dental supplies and equipment.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role within a dental clinic setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in using EMR systems; experience with Dentrix is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and compliance.
- Familiarity with medical imaging techniques and 3D scanners is an asset.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control practices.
- Ability to perform basic medical coding for insurance purposes is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient care and comfort.
