Registered Dental Assistant

Duties

  • Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, maintaining aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
  • Take dental X-rays and medical imaging while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
  • Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as carestack, ensuring accuracy in medical documentation and coding.
  • Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures; provide chairside assistance with four-handed dentistry techniques.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, updating medical records, and maintaining compliance with HIPAA standards.
  • Educate patients about dental terminology, treatment plans, and post-procedure care to promote understanding and cooperation.

Skills

  • Proficiency with EMR systems like carestack for managing medical records and documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques essential for safe clinical practice.
  • Experience with dental X-ray procedures, including digital imaging.
  • Familiarity with dental terminology and dental coding to accurately document procedures and support billing processes.
  • Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently in general dentistry environments as well as specialized fields like pediatrics.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
