Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical history, and dental examinations to ensure optimal care
- Assist in chairside procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort
- Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions
- Review medical records and documentation for accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Maintain accurate dental records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Support infection control protocols to uphold the highest standards of safety and sterilization in the clinic
- Collaborate with the dental team on patient care plans, documentation review, and medical coding as needed
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current credentials
- Proven experience in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, or dental clinic settings with knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy
- Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation and record keeping
- Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures
- Ability to perform dental assisting tasks including chairside assisting and pediatric-specific procedures
- Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs measurement, and patient assessment techniques
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively and foster a positive experience
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality is maintained
