Responsibilities
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and treatment options.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (medical imaging) while adhering to infection control protocols.
- Review medical records and documentation to ensure accurate patient information and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Maintain sterile environments through aseptic techniques and proper infection control procedures.
- Use dental software systems such as Dentrix, Open Dental, or Eaglesoft for charting, documentation review, and medical coding.
- Monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, ensuring excellent patient care and safety standards are met.
Qualifications
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current credentials.
- Proven experience in general dentistry setting preferred.
- Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems, including Dentrix, Open Dental, or Eaglesoft.
- Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic technique, anatomy, and dental assisting practices.
- Ability to perform patient assessment skills such as vital signs measurement and medical history review accurately.
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients effectively on oral health practices.
