Required Skills/Experience:
- First-timers accepted; want to see they have a solid foundation as an RN if they are new to travel, with >2 years' experience in medical/surgical nursing.
- MS/Tele and Med/Surg work setting experience.
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills/experience: Telemetry - remote monitoring; Use of Rapid Response Teams.
- Genitourinary/Renal case skills/experience: Pre/Post Hemodialysis Management; Renal failure.
- IV therapy/Phlebotomy skills/experience: Blood Product Administration; Central line blood draw; Peripheral Line Care/Management; PICC line management; Starting IVs.
- Medication skills/experience: Heparin.
- Respiratory case skills/experience: Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac; CPAP/BiPAP; High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC); Nasal Cannula; Non-invasive airway management; Oral suctioning; Portable Oxygen tank.
- Professional knowledge and skills: Isolation Precautions; Wound Care/Wound Vac.
- Typical procedures and unit focus include Continuous Bladder Irrigation, difficult urinary catheter insertion, post-operative kidney transplant care, kidney transplant, urology/nephrology illness and surgical procedures, kidney stones, enlarged prostates, cancer of the kidney, bladder, penile, and prostate, complex bladder urology surgeries, end-stage kidney disease, Med-Surg overflow, and step-down transfers from ICU and IMC.
- Special equipment includes a variety of central and peripheral IV lines, a variety of urinary catheter types, CBI, hand irrigation, chest tubes, JP drains, nephrostomy tubes, and ileal conduits.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Kidney Transplant.
- Urology/Nephrology.
Special Requests:
- Block scheduling will be tried but is not guaranteed.
- This is a very busy unit discharging and re-admitting about a third to half of the floor per day.
Shift & Scheduling:
- 4x12 or 3x12 nights (1845-0715).
- Every other weekend.
- No on-call.
- Will work charge as needed for this assignment.
Floating Requirements:
- Will float to other Medical Surgical units.
- Floating is 100% required of all travelers; candidates will float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospital(s).
