Job Title: Endoscopy Nurse
Department: Nursing Services – Endoscopy Unit
Reports To: Nurse Manager / Charge Nurse – Endoscopy
Location: Fakeeh University Hospital, Dubai
Job Summary:
The Endoscopy Nurse is responsible for providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. The role involves pre-procedure preparation, intra-procedure assistance, post-procedure recovery, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the process in accordance with hospital standards and infection control policies.
Key Responsibilities:Patient Care & Clinical Duties
- Prepare patients physically and emotionally for endoscopic procedures (e.g., gastroscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, ERCP, sigmoidoscopy).
- Verify patient identity, consent, and pre-procedure requirements (e.g., fasting, medication review, allergy status).
- Assist the endoscopist during procedures by operating light sources, suction, and other specialized equipment.
- Monitor patient vital signs, oxygen saturation, and comfort level throughout the procedure.
- Administer sedation and analgesia as directed and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Provide post-procedure care, including monitoring for complications and ensuring patient recovery prior to discharge.
- Educate patients and families regarding procedure details, post-procedure care, and follow-up instructions.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the EMR.
Technical & Equipment Management
- Ensure endoscopy equipment and instruments are properly prepared, sterilized, and functioning before each procedure.
- Handle and maintain endoscopic instruments according to infection control and decontamination standards.
- Report malfunctioning equipment promptly and assist in troubleshooting basic technical issues.
- Ensure availability of emergency equipment (e.g., oxygen, suction, resuscitation trolley) at all times.
Infection Control & Safety
- Adhere strictly to infection prevention and control protocols for cleaning, disinfecting, and storing endoscopy equipment.
- Follow hospital policies for safe handling and disposal of biological specimens and waste.
- Participate in audits and continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and clinical performance.
Team Collaboration & Professional Development
- Work collaboratively with physicians, anesthetists, technicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth workflow.
- Participate in staff training, competency assessments, and continuing education related to endoscopic nursing and sedation care.
- Support orientation and mentoring of new nurses and trainees in the unit.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.
- Licensure: Valid RN license from UAE Health Authority (DOH/DHA/MOH).
- Certification:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – mandatory.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – preferred.
- Endoscopy Nursing or Gastroenterology Nursing Certification – preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year in an Endoscopy or Operating Room setting.

Working Conditions:
- Shift-based role including weekends and on-call duties.
- Exposure to body fluids, disinfectants, and cleaning agents.
- Requires standing for long durations and handling of medical instruments.

Pay: AED8,000.00 - AED9,000.00 per month
