Registered Nurse – Infection Control

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse – Infection Control is responsible for delivering safe and high-quality nursing care while leading and coordinating the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) program within the long-term care hospital. The role ensures compliance with national regulations, hospital policies, and international best practices to minimize healthcare-associated infections and promote patient and staff safety.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical (Registered Nurse) Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care to long-term care patients in accordance with nursing standards and hospital policies.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately.
  • Monitor patient condition and report changes promptly to the medical team.
  • Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation.
  • Support patients and families with education, reassurance, and care coordination.

Infection Prevention & Control Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor the hospital’s Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) program.
  • Conduct regular infection surveillance, audits, and risk assessments.
  • Monitor healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and prepare reports with recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with hand hygiene, PPE usage, isolation precautions, and environmental cleaning standards.
  • Provide infection control education and training to nursing, clinical, and support staff.
  • Participate in outbreak investigation, management, and reporting.
  • Review and update infection control policies and procedures in line with MOH Bahrain guidelines and international standards.
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership, quality, and facilities teams to improve infection control practices.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSc Nursing)
  • Valid Registered Nurse license
  • Certification or formal training in Infection Prevention & Control (preferred)
  • Minimum 3–5 years of nursing experience , preferably in:
  • Long-term care / rehabilitation / hospital setting
  • Infection control or quality role
